The Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has held its maiden meeting in Abuja as preparations intensify for the party’s forthcoming national convention.

The meeting was presided over by the committee chairman, Aminu Bello Masari, a former Governor of Katsina State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The inaugural session formally signalled the commencement of the committee’s activities aimed at ensuring the successful organisation of the party’s 2026 National Convention scheduled to hold later in March.

The committee is tasked with coordinating and harmonising all activities leading to the convention, including supervising operational, administrative and logistical arrangements required for the exercise.

Speaking during the meeting, Masari emphasised the need for unity, transparency and adherence to the party’s constitution in carrying out the assignment. He urged members of the committee to approach their responsibilities with fairness and dedication to ensure a credible and well-organised convention.

The APC leadership had earlier appointed Masari as chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee following a reconstitution of the panel as part of preparations for the party’s national convention.

The convention is expected to bring together key stakeholders of the ruling party to deliberate on internal party matters and take major decisions regarding its leadership structure and future direction.

The committee comprises senior party figures and government officials drawn from across the country, who have been mandated to ensure the smooth conduct of the convention.
